Approach

We seek out therapy or counseling for many different reasons. Seeking help for depression and anxiety is common, but also life circumstances or recent painful events can lead someone to seek treatment. Sometimes there is a sense that something is missing or a desire for a life that is more meaningful. Often our natural impulse is to move away from discomfort, and yet when we do this we are moving away from the truth of our experience. Doing this can leave us feeling numb, lost, alone. My therapeutic approach is centered around creating an environment in which you feel seen and heard: a space where you can feel free to express yourself without blame or judgement. Here we can stay with the truth of your experience and get curious about what it has to tell you.

I believe that our unconscious mind and history of relational experiences shape the way we live and interact day to day. Together we will explore those patterns and the ways that they have shaped you. I strive to create a therapeutic relationship that is built on safety, trust, collaboration and hope. I walk alongside you as we get familiar with your picture of the world and how you relate to yourself and others. We will look through the lens of past relationships and see how you have been shaped by these relationships, and how these relating patterns are playing out in the present.

I believe in our body’s innate desire for health and joy: in addition I believe that our bodies hold the truth of our emotional world. Many times our bodies know what we are feeling in ways that are as of yet unknown to our conscious mind. Our body can be our guide when we pay attention. In our work together we will engage with the wisdom of the body. We will connect with and become familiar with the many ways the body communicates when it is treated with trust and honor.
